Appliqué/ Tackle Twill
Appliqué, also know as tackle twill, is the technique of layering fabric onto a garment and at Sharp Designs we are appliqué specialists! Fabric is used to fill in the large solid areas of a design or letter. Then the edges are secured down with embroidery in either a zigzag or satin stitch. Appliqué is ideal for schools, teams and small businesses who want to make a big, bold statement with their logo. It is a high end medium for large graphics or text. We offer the traditional tackle twill, metallic twill and felf.
It is very durable, long lasting and extremely popular. Appliqué is the perfect alternative to larger more costly embroidery projects. This technique is very popular for Greek letters for fraternities and sororities, as well as for schools that use an acronym for identity (such as BHS). At this time, Sharp Designs does not provide an applique "cutting service" to other embroiderers. We cut our own applique and embroider it on our own garments only.
